A mushroom supplement must be of top quality to support your health. It should be made from organic mushrooms and be free of fillers, contaminants, and toxins. That’s why the quality control of our mushrooms is our top priority.
Every delivery—and we mean every delivery—is sent to independent third-party laboratories. They check our products for beta-glucans, alpha-glucans, heavy metals, pesticides, and microbial contamination.
Each batch of organic mushrooms is tested
Our mushrooms are naturally organic. So why test them? Because we want to be absolutely sure that we offer top quality. Mushrooms have a strong potential for bioaccumulation, meaning they absorb many nutrients from their environment, including unwanted or toxic substances.
Mushrooms, in addition to their powerful properties (1), are also known as “nature’s cleanup agents.” Since we don’t want these substances in our bodies, we extensively test our mushrooms. In fact, we are the only mushroom shop in Europe that does that.
Every batch of mushrooms gets tested without exception. You can find the results on the product pages of our supplements. Search by the batch code (see the bottom of your bottle) to find your supplement.
Organic mushrooms tested for beta-glucans
We also get our organic mushrooms tested for important nutrients. Each mushroom supplement varies, but with most supplements, we look for a high concentration of beta-glucans.
You can only prove this by doing a specific test on beta-glucans, not just polysaccharides. It is the beta-glucans that are associated with probiotic activity, which may contribute positively to the gut and immune system (2).
Control over the mushroom cultivation process
Most functional mushrooms grow on dead trees in public forests. Why not harvest them straight from nature? It might seem wonderfully organic, but the issue lies in having zero control over the growing conditions and environment of the mushrooms.
As mentioned earlier, mushrooms absorb many substances from their environment, including heavy metals and other toxins—especially in areas polluted by humans.
That’s why we collaborate with specialised, experienced nurseries that grow mushrooms in a completely organic way. Without the use of fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, synthetics, or other chemicals. It’s simply, purely natural but controlled and safe.
Organic mushrooms imported from China
We import our mushrooms from China, the country where functional mushrooms have been used in local traditional herbal medicine for thousands of years.
This knowledge has been around for about two thousand years, and during that time, China has gained tremendous expertise in growing, harvesting, and processing mushrooms. Additionally, China boasts a wide variety of functional mushrooms, including Reishi, Cordyceps, Lion’s Mane, Chaga, and Turkey Tail.
However, as in any other country, not all suppliers or nurseries are the same. Therefore, we are extremely careful in selecting organic, sustainable suppliers and test all products for their quality, safety, and efficacy.
Mushroom supplements based on fruiting bodies
MushPeak prefers fruiting bodies of organic mushrooms over mycelium. Mycelium can be thought of as the roots of the mushroom, a network of fungal threads growing in the soil or between leaves, from which fruiting bodies are formed.
While mycelium can also contain bioactive compounds, fruiting bodies contain high concentrations of nutrients, enzymes, and bioactive compounds. These include polysaccharides, beta-glucans, and triterpenes: dietary fibers that significantly contribute to the efficacy of our products.
In traditional Chinese medicine, fruiting bodies are also used more than mycelium. To ensure the quality, effectiveness, and purity of our mushroom supplements, we only use high-quality, organic fruiting bodies.
Maximum transparency and clarity
As crucial as quality control is, transparency and customer-friendliness are equally important to us. Our mushrooms must be cultivated organically in a pristine environment, free from harmful substances—hence our rigorous quality control.
We strive to provide you with all the necessary information. That’s why we specify the parts of the mushroom you receive, the percentage of important nutrients, and the details of lab results on our labels.
All our product labels include:
- Name of the mushroom supplement
- Content
- User manual
- Ingredients
- QR code for lab results
- Address details for MushPeak B.V.
While our supplements undergo testing by independent third-party laboratories, we refrain from making claims about their potential effects in compliance with current EU legislation.
Additionally, we acknowledge individual uniqueness—no two products work the same for everyone. Therefore, a clear disclaimer is present on every product page and blog post.
