  • Sit or lie down comfortably and place one hand on your belly and the other on your chest.
  • Breathe in gently through your nose while counting to four. Feel your belly expand as you breathe in. Let your chest move as little as possible.
  • Now gently exhale while counting to four. Feel your belly flattening again.
  • If necessary, extend it to five or six counts.
  • Repeat this exercise a few rounds for five minutes.

They tested this by exposing young mice to stress by removing their mothers. They then administered Ganoderma lucidum triterpenoids (GLT), or Reishi.

‘Separation from the mother increased pro-inflammatory markers in the periphery and brain, and activated microglia in the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus. All abnormalities were reversed by administration of GLT.’ – Researchers clinical trial

The mice displayed reduced anxiety and depressive behavior. Researchers noted that anxiety and nervousness often go hand in hand with depression.

Additionally, anxiety and depression scores decreased throughout the study period.
